Dirt Devil Breeze Vacuum Cleaner Review

Article by Jenny

Dirt Devil is known for its vacuums in the lower end of the price segment. With the prices being so amazingly low, many people actually avoid the Dirt Devil, to their detriment, because the vacuums are actually very very good. Most Dirt Devils are very basic, but well designed machines that don’t have too many of the frills that you get with the other, more expensive models.

The Dirt Devil Breeze is their entry level bagless vacuum, and just like their bagged version, makes a very good case for itself. It’s got a lot of features that you need, and none of the ones that you don’t. Lets take a look at what makes the Breeze so good.

Features Of The Dirt Devil Breeze

You get the same 12 amp motor as the Featherlite. With a 12 amp motor, there is just no way that you will ever want for power, there is enough and more for anyone’s wants.

It is also constructed in the same way as the Featherlite which means that in total it weighs in at only 12 lbs. There are not too many other machines that you will get with this kind of low weight. So if you have stairs, or need to carry them about, this is one of the best models for you.

There is an automatic height adjustment where the beater brush lifts up when you push the handle vertical. This means that when you are cleaning a deep pile carpet, where you need to go slower, just keep the handle straight up and the beater brush lifts up to protect your carpet. When you are on normal carpeting, you can use it normally anyway, because you don’t need to go as slow, and the beater brush lowers when you hold the handle at an angle.

It’s got a 13 inch cleaning path, which may be slightly smaller when compared to other models that come with 15 inch ones. But then it’s not too much of a negative, as the amount of time saved with 2 inches extra on the width is just blown out of proportion. Nobody follows a mathematical pattern around the home to give them the fastest route anyway.

There is a 25 ft long power cord, and a scruff bumper so that you don’t cause any scrapes on your furniture.

And the headlight is a good one that works well in dark places.

This is also a bagless model which means that for less than $50, you actually get a machine that you don’t have to ever replace a bag. The container is big enough for a decent sized house, and emptying it out is also easy. Just don’t try emptying it inside your home as all the dust tends to just fly up in a cloud.

The easiest way to do this is to take an empty trash bag. Fold the opening over the dust container opening, and turn it over. That way very little dust escapes, and you are outside anyway.

You also get a crevice tool, an extension wand and a dusting brush as standard with the machine.

Like in most other Dust Devils, it is a little noisy, but then that’s the only negative (if you can call it one) to the machine. There is no silent vacuum cleaner as of now, and if you want something that actually makes an appreciable difference in terms of noise, you need to go above the $200 mark. Most others are so close to each other, that it really doesn’t make any difference anyway.

Our Recommendation

Who ever heard of a bagless vacuum cleaner at less than $50?

And at this price why would you not want to buy one? Seriously. Most other vacuums need to try to convince you to buy them. With this machine, you need a good reason NOT to buy it.

It’s got everything that you will need in a vacuum, and at a price that you couldn’t have dreamed about even a couple of years back. And they aren’t some underpowered toy thingy that they sell, just so that you get disgusted with it and upgrade. No. This is one powerful machine, and is more than you would ever want.

One downside is that they don’t come with a HEPA filter as standard which means that there is a little bit of dust blow back. But then what you do is pay $5 for a HEPA filter from another model and use it for this machine. You’ve solved your problem. And the HEPA filters are washable and reusable so you get your money back soon enough because you don’t have to keep replacing the filters often.

And at this price, the fact that they give a 2 yr warranty does not even come into the picture. Almost any vacuum that you get these days will last you at least 4 or 5 yrs minimum. And at the price, that’s more than you would need them to last anyway, so why bother about any warranty. They are more like a use and throw away machine.

This machine gets a full 4.5 stars… highly recommended!
